Rules
- All current students enrolled in UM degree programmes (i.e. bachelor’s, master and doctoral programmes) are eligible for the programme. CCE, exchange and deferred students are not eligible.
- Only activities without compulsory or academic credits or monetary compensation are eligible for counting toward the programme and receiving UM competencies score (CS). SDS has the sole right to decide whether an activity is valid for the programme and how many “CS” will be awarded.
- Each activity can only be submitted once and counted toward only one of the “CS” areas of development.
- For overnight camp/programme, only training hours can be counted for WP “CS”, not including time for dining, sleeping and free activity, etc.)
- Each activity submission must be accompanied by proof of participation, such as certificates, testimonials, activity photos, Activity Declaration Form, etc. SDS has the sole right to evaluate the validity of the proof and maintains the right to check the authenticity of the evidence.
- Participants are responsible for the accuracy of the activities submitted. False submissions may result in disciplinary or legal actions.
- Each activity record must be submitted before the submission deadline, which is announced by SDS every year. Late submissions are not accepted.
- The “CS” are accumulated for only one academic year.
- If an activity cuts across the end of an academic year and the beginning of another academic year, the activity will be counted toward a later year.
- Participants are responsible for keeping their contact information up-to-date.
- The application for online/virtual activities from non-UM departments will not be accepted.
- Proof of time (e.g. photo taken before and after the activity) is required for individual activities.
- When applying for “organizing student activities,” the applicant must be the main organizer (co-organizers or helpers are not eligible).
- Individual sports activities require proof of exercise data provided by a smartphone or smartwatch. The data should show the duration of the exercise. (Walking is not accepted to apply)
- The Student Development Section reserves the right to explain and revise the programme without prior notice.
Scoring
- “CS”s for 2024/2025 are accumulated from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.
- Only activities without academic credits or monetary compensation are eligible for counting toward the programme and receiving “CS”.
- Each activity can only be submitted once and counted toward only one of the “CS” areas of development.
- The following table specifies the “CS” allocation to various activities. If no “CS” is designated, each 0.5 hour of activity is worth 5 “CS” in principle. Each activity can apply for up to 400 “CS”.
