China Mainland Students’ Association of the University of Macao Students’ Union (usually called CMSA) is a student organization belonging to the University of Macao Students’ Union (UMSU), which aims to protect China mainland students’ proper rights when studying at UM and solve their study puzzles or problems in their daily lives. CMSA’s principles are strengthening the connection between Chinese mainland students, solving their problems in study or daily lives, and guiding them to join helpful and healthy activities to develop a positive attitude towards study and life. Moreover, as a bridge connecting mainland students with the university, related government departments, and local associations, CMSA is an important channel for mainland students to communicate with organizations in Macao and mainland senior education departments. All mainland students studying at UM automatically become our members.
CMSA has eight administrative departments: the Secretary Department, the Public Relationship Department, the Recreation Department, the Publicity and Design Department, the Information Department, the General Affairs Department, the Sports Department, and the Member Affairs Department; five art departments: the Singing Department, the Dancing Department, the Instrument Department, the Emcee Department, the Drama Club, the Publication Workshop, and the League of Provinces. CMSA welcomes all talented and aspiring students to join our big family. We would work with each other to run the association, gather experience, and make friends in university life. CMSA has plenty of work to do at the university; we want to promote positive attitudes among students and give them more chances to communicate and relax.
CMSA conducts many popular activities, including the Photo Competition, the National Day party the New Year Festival, hiking activities, drama shows, talent shows, etc. Our members harvest experience and friendship by holding these activities. On the other side, we have some online channels like the WeChat Public Channel, su-cmsa. We will post some relative information on this account, so all students are welcome to follow it. We also have a WeChat group for new students to communicate, share information, or ask questions. Students can follow our WeChat account, cmsa2021, and join the WeChat group.
Finally, CMSA wishes all new students a successful life and a wonderful experience at the university.
International Students’ Association (ISA)
What is ISA?
The International Students’ Association (ISA) is established in the year 2016. ISA is composed of international students, exchange students and even local students. ISA is an association dedicated to representing and serving full time international students and international exchange students. ISA is a platform for international, exchange, and local students to interact and collaborate. Our aim is to build a friendly international environment on campus.
Vision
ISA aims to promote diversity within the UM community and enhance UM students’ understanding of each other’s culture. ISA also aims to represent the international students in UM to have their voices heard.
Mission
- To create an international friendly and diverse environment in University of Macau;
- To enhance cross-culture interactions between non-local students and local students;
- To support newly coming international students to adjust to the new environment; and
- To be a platform for all non-local students, exchange students, and non-Chinese speaking local students to raise their voice.

You could learn more about the culture and traditions of other countries while building a meaningful relationship with international students and having fun concurrently. Even during the pandemic, ISA held online activities to engage the international students too!

Jeopardy: A virtual game night with interesting prizes! Indulge new knowledge and gain prizes!
ISA x Masdaw: Walk rescue dogs and take some time off to relax!
Mindfulness Workshop: Gain some insights on the way to find peace in our everyday life, be at peace with ISA!
